The article examines modern challenges and threats to the development of the information society in the Russian Federation. It is emphasized that the solution to the problem of departmental coordination requires comprehensive structural and functional changes in the system of state management of the development of the information infrastructure of society. The main objectives of the activities of international organizations in the field of information technology and communications are revealed. It is proven that the development of electronic communications plays a leading role in the development of innovations, stimulating business activity, contributing to an increase in the level of well-being of people. It is concluded that in the context of intensifying processes of globalization and internationalization, deepening international division of labor, transnationalization of production activities, it is important for the Russian Federation is the development of our own optimal mechanism for entering the global competitive environment, aimed at ensuring economic development and realizing the country's national interests.
