The article examines the evolution of theories of economic system management in the context of digital transformation and the complexity of organizations' interactions with the external environment. It is shown that classical and neoclassical management concepts, which were formed in the logic of the industrial economy, are insufficient to explain and design modern platform and network forms of coordination. As a result, a multi-level classification scheme of theories based on the levels of analysis, coordination mechanisms, and key management resources is proposed, which includes five major groups. It is substantiated that management in the digital era requires the integration of these approaches, taking into account the architecture of platforms, network effects, rules of participation and value distribution, as well as institutional constraints. The prospects for further development of the issues related to the use of AI in economic management and the introduction of digital currencies by central banks are noted.
