The article examines slot management as an economic system where tariff differentiation, operational coordination and terminal commerce operate in concert. It shows how the peak-semi-peak-off-peak scale and transparent secondary slot turnover (with the “use it or lose it” rule) relieve peak demand hours without losing the attractiveness of connections. Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) and a single airport operations center (APOC) translate punctuality, turnover discipline and gate readiness into measurable service level agreements (SLA) and key performance indicators (KPI). Smoothed flows increase the “dwell time” in the commercial zone and the conversion of digital services (duty free pre-order, dynamic parking, service packages). The result is an increase in non-aviation revenues and margin sustainability without deteriorating the passenger experience.
