In the article, based on the results of the analysis and generalization of modern scientific sources, the categorical apparatus of economic theory is supplemented - a new interpretation of the concept of economic security of the region is introduced into scientific circulation and its features are revealed, taking into account the dynamics and trends of social development. The author's position is substantiated that digital transformation leads both to positive changes in socio-economic development and also carries elements of risk for the economic security of the region, which actualizes the tasks of developing management decisions in the effective use of existing potentials and resources in preventing new threats to the sustainability of the subject of the country. The problems and challenges of digital transformation for the economic security of the region are considered using the example of the Perm Territory and shortcomings in current development strategies are identified. A conclusion is formulated about the unevenness of digital processes in the regional space of the Russian Federation, which initiates the development of scientific approaches and the search for optimal solutions in management practice
