The article is devoted to the study of the impact of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) on the stability of national and global financial systems. The theoretical foundations of CBDC functioning, their differences from traditional and private digital currencies are considered, as well as key areas of impact on the banking sector, monetary circulation and monetary policy instruments are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the benefits of CBDC implementation, including increased transparency of operations, lower transaction costs and increased control over cash flows, as well as the risks associated with cyber threats, deposit outflow and the threat of privacy violations. An analysis of the international experience in the introduction of digital currencies is presented and possible scenarios for their development in the Russian economy are identified. The results obtained allow us to conclude that an integrated approach to CBDC regulation is needed to maintain financial stability and ensure sustainable economic growth.
