This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the economic aspects of self-regulation in the security industry. It systematizes the costs and benefits that market participants face when joining self-regulatory organizations (SROs) and complying with industry standards. Special attention is given to the mechanisms that encourage good behavior, including reputational, economic, and disciplinary tools. The study covers the digital transformation of self-regulation, the interaction between SROs and government agencies and insurance institutions, and the support measures for small and medium-sized enterprises. Based on the analysis of international practices and Russian experience, the authors formulate their own conclusions and practical recommendations for optimizing the self-regulation architecture, which are aimed at improving the quality of services, reducing transaction costs, and strengthening trust in the security services market.
