The article considers benchmarking as a strategic tool for ensuring the stable development and growth of competitiveness of enterprises in the hotel industry in St. Petersburg. The analysis of the dynamics of the main operating indicators for 2022-2024 in the context of market and macroeconomic factors is carried out, as well as an assessment of the relative effectiveness of St. Petersburg hotels relative to the leading cities of our country. The importance of comprehensive benchmarking diagnostics is emphasized, which allows adapting best practices, making optimal tactical decisions and developing competitive advantages in the long term. The problems associated with inflation, changes in demand and the specifics of the categories of accommodation facilities are highlighted, and the forecast of the possibilities for the subsequent development of the hotel business is discussed, taking into account current trends. The article shows the role of benchmarking for effective management and determines the directions for improving the practices of the hotel industry based on the statistical indicators obtained.
