Current trends and prospects for the development of the service sector in the Republic of Dagestan in a post-pandemic economy
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
In the context of global economic transformations and post-pandemic recovery, the service sector is becoming increasingly important as a driver of economic growth and improving the quality of life of the population. For a region with a high proportion of young people and active internal migration processes, such as the Republic of Dagestan, the development of the service sector is becoming a strategically important area of socio-economic policy. The purpose of the study is to analyze the dynamics and structural changes in the sphere of paid services for the population of the Republic of Dagestan in 2022-2025, identify key trends, and identify prospects for further development of the service sector, taking into account digitalization, demographic characteristics, and regional infrastructure policy. As a result of the study, the analysis of statistical data showed a steady increase in the volume of paid services since 2022: in 2023 it exceeded 152 billion rubles, which is 15.9% higher than in 2021. The largest increase was recorded in the sectors of digital services, postal and courier communications, tourism and sanatorium services. The strengthening of the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in the formation of the service market, as well as the growth of digital transformation in household and social services, has been revealed. The service sector in the Republic of Dagestan demonstrates stable post-pandemic dynamics, but structural imbalances persist – the predominance of traditional types of services and insufficient sector diversification. Sustainable development requires further implementation of digital solutions, support for entrepreneurship, and human resource development in service industries.
