The study is devoted to assessing the economic efficiency of the «Sport — the Norm of Life» programme within the framework of the national project «Demography». It analyses the direct and indirect economic effects arising from the reduction of morbidity caused by physical inactivity. Data on the reduction of healthcare system expenditures for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, obesity, and type 2 diabetes are presented. It is demonstrated that investments in mass sports generate long‑term economic benefits through increased workforce productivity and reduced pressure on the public healthcare budget. Within the study, a comprehensive analysis of key population health indicators was conducted in regions actively implementing the programme. Special attention was given to the dynamics of average life expectancy, the level of chronic morbidity, and the frequency of hospitalisations for conditions directly linked to a sedentary lifestyle. The obtained data show a statistically significant improvement in these indicators over the three years since the programme’s launch. Additionally, socio‑economic effects were evaluated: increased labour productivity in enterprises that have implemented corporate physical activity programmes; a decrease in the number of sick days; and an increase in the proportion of citizens leading an active lifestyle. The calculation of the total economic effect includes not only direct savings in the healthcare budget but also indirect benefits from improved human capital quality. The research methodology relies on comparative analysis of control groups, econometric modelling of long‑term trends, and evaluation of the return on investment (ROI) in mass sports infrastructure. The results confirm that every ruble invested in developing the sports environment pays off in the medium term through reduced social costs and increased economic activity of the population. Based on the analysis, recommendations have been formulated for scaling up successful practices and optimising budget expenditures for implementing the programme in various regions of the country.
