The article discusses the relevance of the system approach in the context of the digital transformation of science. It proves that systemic thinking, enriched with digital tools (big data, network modeling, and artificial intelligence), has become a key methodology for conducting effective interdisciplinary research. The digital era has exacerbated this complexity (with the emergence of cyber-physical systems and platform economies), but it has also provided new tools for understanding it (such as computer modeling). As a result, the demand for truly interdisciplinary research has increased dramatically. However, the very formulation of an interdisciplinary study requires a unified methodological framework that can combine diverse languages, methods, and data. Their objects are complex systems where elements (technological, social, and biological) are closely interconnected and generate emergent properties that are not reducible to the properties of individual parts. The article concludes that it is necessary to integrate the systemic paradigm into research training programs.
