This study is a comprehensive analysis of the structural organization and shadow operating mechanisms of the emerald market in Colombia. The paper examines in detail the institutional determinants, economic parameters and social foundations of the illegal mineral resource complex. The analysis demonstrates that the shadow emerald industry has transformed into a system-forming sector of the national economy with an annual turnover of 180-260 billion US dollars, characterized by deep integration into global value chains. Special attention is paid to the study of the symbiotic relationship between archaic mining methods and modern financial technologies, as well as the analysis of corruption networks that ensure the stability of the system. The final part presents a forecast model for the development of the shadow sector in the short and medium term, identifying key risks and potential scenarios for the escalation of socio-economic tensions.
