Poultry farming was considered as a segment of the agro-food market in the Russian Federation. This segment is highly dynamic and strategically important for the country. The purpose of this study is to assess the current state of the segment, based on which measures were proposed to reduce the impact of factors that hinder the qualitative growth of the segment. The article assesses the current state of the agro-food market segment in the Russian Federation, specifically poultry farming, as one of the key segments. It provides data on meat consumption, the largest poultry meat-importing countries, and poultry meat production in the Russian Federation. Based on the data obtained, practical guidelines are presented for improving the sustainability of domestic poultry farming.
