This article discusses the conceptual foundations of the formation of a sustainable economic development strategy for a region. Sustainable development is understood as a dynamic process aimed at preserving and increasing the region's potential, enhancing its competitiveness in the long term, and achieving a balance in economic, social, and environmental indicators. The article focuses on a systematic approach to regional governance in the context of shaping a sustainable economic development model and identifying the factors that hinder this process. It is emphasized that the quality of socio-economic progress at the national and regional levels depends on numerous factors that determine the different opportunities for economic development in the regions, including those that can hinder this development. The article examines the main objective constraints and proposes a set of measures aimed at improving public administration in the relations between the federal center and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the context of the coordinated implementation of the concept of sustainable economic development in the territory.
