Synergy of sustainable development and industrial sovereignty: strategic integration in the face of new challenges
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The article examines the relationship between the concepts of sustainable development and industrial sovereignty in the context of Russia's current economic policy. Under sanctions and global environmental shifts, these concepts are no longer seen as contradictory but rather as complementary and synergistic. Industrial sovereignty provides the material foundation for achieving sustainable development goals, while the focus on sustainability principles—such as resource efficiency, low-carbon production, and circularity—becomes a driver of long-term economic and technological competitiveness, thereby strengthening industrial sovereignty. The study demonstrates how the transition to green industry, the adoption of circular economy models, and climate risk management contribute to reducing resource and technological dependence. The author concludes that embedding sustainable development principles into the industrial sovereignty strategy enables the creation of a more resilient, adaptive, and innovation-driven industrial model that aligns with Russia's domestic priorities and the demands of the emerging technological order.
