Supporting companies in various areas of their activities, including entering foreign markets, is an important function of the state, especially in the current complex geopolitical environment. This article aims to determine the role of state support in facilitating the entry of startups into foreign markets. It is assumed that startups are particularly in need of external support due to their relatively fragile market position, which is associated with the increased risks of implementing innovative projects. The study revealed that the benefits of assisting startups in entering foreign markets may not be obvious for the state; however, it brings a number of advantages that improve the welfare of the sending country. At the same time, the interests of the state and startups, which are inherently multifaceted, must be aligned to ensure the most effective governmental influence on the internationalization of startups.
