Abstract:
A special role in the development of scientific interest in the problem of political manipulation is played by the spread of "new media" in the public life of society, including modern information transmission and processing systems, which undoubtedly led to a change in the technologies of political manipulation. Nevertheless, due to the emergence of new technologies and means of influence, the essence of political manipulation has not changed, asymmetric manipulation methods are still used (not considering maintaining and establishing a dialogue between the subject and the object of manipulation). The possibilities of information technology today allow us to establish control over the level of support for certain currents of public thought, to actualize or minimize the discussion of various views on any event from the media discourse. In the modern world, a large number of manipulative technologies and tools are known that are applicable in the political environment at the local, regional and global levels. A political Internet meme has become a similar means of manipulating public consciousness, with the help of which it is possible to accurately and briefly convey a certain amount of information to the object of manipulation.
