This article examines current issues in managing the digital transformation of the agro-industrial complex. It analyzes the systemic challenges hindering the implementation of information and communication technologies in the industry, with a particular focus on breeding and seed production as a fundamental basis for food security. It also substantiates the need for a comprehensive approach, including improving the regulatory framework, developing human resources, and upgrading the equipment and materials. Using a regional example, the opportunities and barriers to regional digitalization are demonstrated, and areas for integrating industry platforms into a unified system of digital agricultural economics are presented. Modern information technologies are opening up opportunities for plant breeders that would have seemed unimaginable just a decade ago. Remote sensing from satellites allows for the collection of data on soil and crop conditions at the macro level. Unmanned aerial vehicles are reaching the micro level, providing highly accurate monitoring of diseases, soil moisture, and plant health.
