In the current conditions of sanctions pressure and restrictions imposed by a number of countries, establishing new partnerships in friendly countries is of particular importance. Business missions serve as important component for the development of foreign economic activity and as an effective mechanism that influences enterprises entering new foreign markets and strengthening their positions in the existing markets. The article addresses business missions as a tool for state support aimed at the expansion of Russian companies export opportunities. As an example, the article highlights the cooperation between the Republic of Mordovia and the Republic of Belarus. The purpose of this work is to study how organization of business missions affects the development of export relations between regions and contributes to the increase in export volumes. The article substantiates the need of available tools for organized trips of regional enterprises to foreign countries active application. The study is based on the concept of spatial economics. Statistical and economic methods as well as the method of comparative analysis were applied to assess changes in the foreign trade of the Republic of Mordovia and the impact of business trips to Belarus on the development of export relations. The study used data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Mordovia and the Federal Center for Agroexport. The analysis of organization of the Republic of Mordovia business missions to the Republic of Belarus revealed a positive impact of the events on the dynamics of foreign trade turnover between the parties, the development of production cooperation, strengthening of interaction in the areas of healthcare, science, education, culture, tourism, patriotic education of young people. Practical significance of the article lies in the possibility of extrapolating the experience of business missions exchange between the Republic of Mordovia and the Republic of Belarus to interaction with other friendly countries, where economies require products made in the region. The conclusion is that a comprehensive approach to organizing group trips is necessary to achieve positive results in various industries, and that the investment component should be included as an important tool for further regional economic growth in the agenda of upcoming business missions.
