The article examines the coverage of the state policy of the Soviet state in the scientific study of the Arctic in regional periodicals in the 1950-1960s. During this period, state power played a dominant role in organizing scientific research in the Arctic regions, and regional periodicals, which promptly responded to ongoing events, act as a valuable historical source that enriches the research base. The work also analyzes the specifics and methodology of studying periodicals in the Arctic regions of Yakutia, as well as their contribution to the development of historical issues. Scientific research initiated by the republican authorities during this period was dictated solely by practical needs. First of all, this concerned the needs of industrial development and extraction of minerals, including their exploration. In addition, issues related to shipping and the delivery of goods along northern waterways, which was an integral part of the process of post-war economic recovery of the country, were relevant.
