This article examines the ecosystem of interactions between universities and industrial partners using the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra as an example. It is argued that, in the context of technological modernization of the regional economy, universities perform not only educational functions but also research and production, human resources, innovation, and integration. Particular attention is paid to the practices of university collaboration with companies in the oil and gas, energy, digital, and infrastructure sectors, as well as the importance of such partnerships for training in-demand specialists, developing applied research, project-based learning, and strengthening the region's innovative potential. It is shown that interactions between universities and businesses in Yugra should be viewed not as a set of separate agreements, but as a sustainable regional system for aligning educational, scientific, and industrial interests. It is concluded that a transition from formal agreements to a model of jointly designing educational programs, scientific and technological developments, practical training, student career paths, and mechanisms for retaining young professionals in the region is necessary.
