Abstract:
In this article, the authors analyze the legal aspects of extremist crimes committed in penitentiary institutions. These aspects make it difficult to successfully apply preventive measures aimed at countering extremist activities in institutions of the penal correction system (hereinafter referred to as the Penal correction system). The article analyzes the legal framework for countering extremism and the mechanism that unites the efforts of authorities to combat extremist crimes. Special attention is paid to the effectiveness of countering extremism through increased coordination of government agencies with public structures. The article reflects the successful experience of cooperation with clergymen in the areas of spiritual and moral education of convicts and the formation of their moral and ethical standards aimed at preventing interfaith and interethnic hostility. The analysis revealed an increase in the number of extremist crimes and, therefore, the need to strengthen.
