The article examines such a concept as a financial market. Various definitions of the financial market are analyzed. The functions and structure of the financial market are considered. Referring to statistical data, an assessment is given of the current state of the financial market in Russia. A study of the key trends that have developed in the financial markets of the Russian Federation is conducted. Through analysis, the main indicators of the insurance market and the securities market are studied. Financial market statistics record the state of monetary regulation instruments, the securities market, including debt obligations of the Russian Federation, and the insurance market, so we can consider the dynamics of the main indicators. The author also identified the main problems of the financial market at the present stage, which, of course, require their solution and conclusions are made about the need to improve individual areas in the development of the financial market to achieve sustainable economic growth.
