Relevance. As part of the digital transformation of the banking sector, the issues of studying and subsequent applied implementation of innovative technologies, including those based on decentralized registry systems, in banking business management models are becoming critically important. One of the most promising tools in this direction is the application of smart contracts. Objective. To analyze the prospects and positive potential of smart contracts implementation in the banking sector in the context of digital transformation of bank operational models of business management. Methodology. In the process of writing the article the following scientific methods of research were applied: deduction and induction, analysis and synthesis, logical method, comparative and system analysis, economic and statistical methods. Results. The most promising directions and internal segments in the banking business, in which the application of smart contracts can give the greatest positive effect and optimization of operating costs of commercial banks, are outlined.
