The article is devoted to the problem of structural dynamics in the industry of the Ryazan region, which occurred in the second half of the last century and the beginning of the current one. The main directions of the formation of the industrial structure of the region through the creation of large industrial enterprises are shown. The priority areas of specialization in the region's industry and the development of productive forces are determined. The conclusion is made about the role of the factor of favorable economic and geographical location in the industrial development of the Ryazan region. The main features of the economic and geographical location of the Ryazan region are shown. The problem of disproportion in the sectoral and territorial structure of industry in the Ryazan region is investigated, and the increasing trend of monocentricity in its development is shown. It is shown that an important mechanism for leveling the imbalances of the territorial structure of industrial production in the region is the use of a cluster approach.
