The article considers the issue of creating a single energy market between Russia and Kazakhstan within the framework of integration into the Eurasian Economic Union. The peculiarities of the organization of electric energy and capacity markets in the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan) are studied. The role of the electric power sector, the structure of generating capacities and the management of the energy system of each country are described. A comparative analysis is being carried out in terms of technological and commercial infrastructure. The disadvantages, advantages and features of power systems are revealed. An assessment of the possible positive effect of the organization of a common electricity market for each of the countries is given. In general, the article is a contribution to the study of integration processes within the EAEU and their impact on relations between Russia and Kazakhstan.
