The article discusses the concept of geostrategic planning as a tool for managing the regional development of the Stavropol Territory. The study is based on a comprehensive analysis of the geo-economic, geopolitical and socio-cultural factors determining the strategic role of the region. The geostrategic position of the Stavropol Territory is determined by its border status with the republics of the North Caucasus, proximity to the Caspian-Black Sea transport corridor and significant agro-industrial potential. The synthesis of traditional territorial planning and geopolitical positioning of the Stavropol Territory within the framework of the North Caucasus Federal District is investigated. Based on the analysis of the economic, social and geographical potential of the territory, a comprehensive model has been developed that takes into account the transit potential, agro-industrial specialization and recreational opportunities of the region, capable of optimizing the spatial development of the Stavropol Territory in the face of modern challenges. The model assumes the formation of «poles of growth», strengthening the transit function and strengthening integration processes in the macroregion.
