Managing the life cycle of intellectual activities in high-tech businesses
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article substantiates a step-by-step, cyclical approach to the management of patentable results of intellectual activity (RIA), synchronized with their life cycle. Against the backdrop of the growing role of intellectual property as a key resource for competitiveness, an expanded model of five interconnected stages is proposed: planning for expected RIA; development and obtaining the result; formalization and securing legal protection; registration and practical use of rights; and sustainable commercialization. Each stage has its own goals, objectives, inputs/outputs, performance metrics, and management actions, as well as a set of tools, methods, and processes that ensure verifiability, legal purity, and reproducibility. The author's vision complements the model with pre-project design of the legal architecture, the institutionalization of early selection of inventions (committee, prioritization cycles), end-to-end digitalization (single registry, target indicators, decision triggers), privacy policies and the use of open-source software, as well as the discipline of regular reassessment and strategic sessions on monetization. The proposed framework enhances the predictability and security of RIA, reduces transactional and regulatory risks, accelerates capital turnover, and ensures the continuity of the innovation process and long-term economic returns.
