The article analyzes current trends in the development of the global clothing market and Russia's positioning in the global textile and clothing value chain. Based on data from international organizations (WTO, UN Comtrade, McKinsey, Euromonitor) and national statistics (Rosstat, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation), key trends are considered: acceleration of digitalization, growth of the fast fashion segment and its transformation into hybrid models, increased demand for sustainability, localization of supply chains and geopolitical fragmentation of markets. The volume of production, import and export of clothing in Russia is analyzed, structural imbalances of the domestic industry are revealed, including high dependence on imported fabrics and components, limited competitiveness in foreign markets and weak integration into global fashion networks. The necessity of a systematic modernization of the industry based on technological renewal, the development of design potential and the formation of a national strategy for sustainable fashion is substantiated.
