The role of the use courses in the development of the academic capital of higher education: economic efficiency and long-term benefits
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
This article examines the impact of Unified State Exam (USE) preparatory courses on the development of academic capital at Russian higher education institutions. The author analyzes the cost-effectiveness of the courses through the lens of return-on-investment (ROI) modeling and assesses long-term benefits, including improved applicant quality, reduced student attrition, and enhanced university reputation. Based on empirical data from surveys and case studies at universities, the author proposes an original model for integrating USE preparatory courses into strategic financial and educational policies. The results demonstrate that, when properly implemented, preparatory courses can generate up to 150% return on investment (ROI), contributing to the sustainable development of academic capital. The article identifies key barriers related to regulatory restrictions and the risk of revenue cannibalization and offers recommendations for universities and educational authorities. The goal of the study is to develop a model for assessing the effectiveness of USE preparatory courses taking into account academic capital and to present empirical evidence from Russian universities.
