Shadow Architecture of Gold refining: a systematic analysis of the Argor-Heraeus corporate model and provenance denaturation mechanisms
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The presented scientific work performs a system-ontological analysis of the architectonics of the multinational refining concern Argor-Heraeus, representing it as a paradigmatic cryptolegal corporation. The study explicates the mechanisms of strategic semiotic ambiguity, in which formal compliance with international regulatory standards (LBMA, OECD) is used not to ensure transparency, but to construct an impenetrable legal facade that provides cover for the systematic denaturation of precious metals provenance. The central object of the analysis is the phenomenon of epistemic sabotage– the methodological destruction of documentary and informational traces that transform the reconstruction of the true origin of raw materials into a fundamentally unsolvable task. Based on the material of the criminal proceedings of 2013, the mechanism of alchemical sanitation is studied in detail, where high-temperature refining performs the function of not only physico-chemical, but also semiotic transmutation, erasing the historical memory of the metal and converting its criminogenic genesis into a technically flawless asset. The methodological triangulation of the study combines the structural and functional decomposition of the shadow modules of the corporation, network analysis of affiliation with international criminal formations and predictive modeling of the evolution of architecture in the context of technological and geopolitical shifts. The prognostic section presents a three-phase transformation matrix (2026-2034), which models the transition from a phase of hybrid stability through technological transmutation to a state of postgeographic dissociation, where the very concept of geographical origin loses operational significance. The key conclusion of the work is the thesis that such systems have achieved the status of ontological insolubility, in which traditional binary oppositions (legal/criminal, transparent/opaque) lose their differentiating force, and the business model evolves from money laundering to the production and monetization of epistemic uncertainty as the final product.
