The article examines the economic aspects of applying artificial intelligence (AI) systems in the agricultural activities of institutions of the Russian Federation's Penal System, considering the dual nature of this activity: as a subsidiary farm ensuring the departmental food security, and as a tool for the labor adaptation of convicts. The theoretical and methodological foundation is based on sector-specific developments on the use of AI in agriculture, where AI technology is interpreted as a system encompassing a hardware and software complex, data, integration methods, and a management subsystem. This system operates under conditions of sectoral specificity, including interaction with living organisms, incomplete and corrupted data, and often, low digital readiness of personnel. An adapted model of an AI system for the agricultural sector of the Penal System is proposed, supplemented by a security and regime subsystem. It is demonstrated that the implementation of the principle of technological sovereignty under the conditions of regime restrictions requires reliance on domestic software and hardware solutions and departmental data infrastructure. A conceptual framework for the systemic implementation of AI in the agricultural activities of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia is proposed, aimed at simultaneously increasing economic efficiency and the quality of sentence execution.
