The article examines economic security, which currently plays a key role in the development of any region, and the Orenburg region is no exception. The stable economic state of the region contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of its residents, attracts investment and promotes the diverse development of economic sectors. In this article, we will consider the current state of economic security in the Orenburg region, its main problems and development prospects. The economic security of the Orenburg region faces a number of challenges and threats that may negatively affect its economic development. One of the main threats is the instability of world energy prices, since the region depends on the extraction of natural resources. In addition, the region's economy is subject to the influence of global economic crises and political conflicts. Another important challenge is the development of technologies, since it may affect the competitiveness of domestic enterprises and lead to job losses. The solution of these challenges requires a comprehensive approach and active work on the part of the government and business community of the region
