The article discusses the concept of "creative industries", which covers both creative and innovative areas. In particular, we focus on the trends in the development of the sphere in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra. Legislative documents that affect the development of the industry both at the national level and within a specific region are presented. Explanatory information is given to the orders and laws, as well as statistics on the interest and employment of labor resources in the field of creative industries. These figures are the main indicators of the current state of the creative industries. A real example in this area is demonstrated, a problem area is also highlighted and relevance is justified. It is specific cases based on real experience that contribute to the active growth of creative industries, as well as form a list of recommendations for improving the situation in the region.
