To date, the problem of unauthorized waste disposal occupies one of the first places in the list of environmental problems in Russia. The article deals with the problem of unauthorized waste disposal on land plots and the role of municipal land control authorities in countering this phenomenon. The authors analyze the existing legal and organizational mechanisms regulating the activities of municipal land control bodies and identify opportunities to strengthen their role in countering unauthorized placement of waste. Based on the analysis, measures are proposed to solve the problem of unauthorized waste disposal by improving the legislative framework. The article may be useful for specialists in the field of ecology, land control, law, economics and management, as well as for a wide range of readers interested in environmental issues.
