This article presents the results of a comparative assessment of the standard of living of the population of the Republic of Dagestan and one of the most developed regions of the country - Moscow region. The analysis was carried out on the basis of such key indicators of the standard of living as the number of population, unemployment rate, the amount of money income, the state of social sphere branches. The purpose of the study is a comparative analysis of the standard of living of the population of the Republic of Dagestan and the Moscow region. These two regions differ in a variety of parameters: economic development, demographic structure, cultural characteristics, and other characteristics. Comparison of the data of contrasting regions in terms of living standards will allow, firstly, to demonstrate the scale of regional differentiation, and secondly - to determine measures to overcome the lagging behind the Republic of Dagestan from the developed regions of the country.
