The relevance of the research topic is due to the importance of systemically important credit institutions in the national banking system. The article concludes that the consistent process of consolidation of credit institutions strengthens the processes of concentration of bank capital in the hands of the largest banks and their role in the development of the economy and the banking system is increasing. The state's participation in the banking sector is mediated through systemically important credit institutions and is aimed at ensuring the stability of the national banking system. The article examines the criteria by which credit institutions are differentiated as systemically significant, which imposes both increased obligations on their activities and gives them certain advantages.
