The article examines the historical aspect of the formation and development of the legislation of the Russian state on the social rights of military personnel and their families. The provisions of normative legal acts of various historical periods regulating the set of social rights of military personnel in Russia are studied. Studying the genesis of the development of social rights of military personnel in the Russian state allows us to get an idea of the specifics of the legal regulation of military legal relations during the period, which makes it possible to ensure their qualitative and reasonable legal regulation. As a result of consideration of this topic, the author concludes that the genesis of the protection of the social rights of military personnel can be divided into several stages: the period of Pre-Revolutionary Russia, the Soviet period and the Post-Soviet period.
