In the context of the transformation of higher education, the growing social diversity of the student body, and the increasing demand for professional self-identification, the role of the social work teacher as a key player in supporting students' personal and professional development is growing. This article explores the specifics of the social work teacher's work at a university, aimed at developing a sustainable cultural and professional identity in students—a holistic self-concept as a bearer of certain values, belonging to a professional community and cultural context. The functions of a social educator—diagnostic, educational, mediative, reflective-developmental, and integrative—are analyzed in the context of supporting students from vulnerable groups, migrants, representatives of minority groups, and those experiencing difficulties in professional self-determination. It is emphasized that the effective work of a social educator facilitates not only social adaptation but also students' understanding of their role in the profession and society, which is the basis for sustainable motivation and civic responsibility.
