Educating Students in the Spirit of a Healthy Lifestyle: Approaches and Practices

Abstract (English):
In the contemporary context of socio-economic development and the transformation of the higher education system, the issue of forming and fostering a healthy lifestyle among students is becoming increasingly relevant and requires comprehensive scientific analysis. The intensification of the educational process, the growing volume of academic workload, a high level of psycho-emotional stress, the widespread use of digital technologies and distance learning formats, as well as a decline in everyday physical activity have a significant impact on the physical, mental, and social health of students. Under these conditions, there is an increasing need for purposeful educational influence aimed at developing students’ conscious, sustainable, and responsible attitudes toward their own health as a fundamental life value and an essential resource for personal, professional, and social development. The article examines the education of students in the spirit of a healthy lifestyle as a systemic and multidimensional process that includes pedagogical, psychological-pedagogical, and socio-cultural components implemented within both educational and extracurricular activities. The essence of the concept of a “healthy lifestyle” is analyzed, its main structural elements are identified, and its significance for successful educational activity, adaptation to the learning environment, and the formation of professional competence is determined. Particular attention is paid to identifying factors and risks that negatively affect the health of students, including stress, unbalanced nutrition, insufficient physical activity, and the spread of harmful habits. The paper considers the main approaches to promoting a healthy lifestyle in educational institutions, analyzes physical fitness, preventive, and educational practices, and examines the role of the educational environment, teaching staff, and educational work in shaping a culture of health among students. The importance of a comprehensive and purposeful approach to organizing the activities of educational institutions aimed at preserving and strengthening students’ health, improving the quality of the educational process, and forming a harmoniously developed personality is emphasized
