The article examines the influence of macroeconomic, regional, sectoral and legal factors of the external environment, as well as microeconomic and personnel aspects of the internal environment on the credit policy of commercial banks. The strategic and tactical elements of credit policy are considered, including the principles of loan portfolio formation, risk management and liquidity provision. Special attention is paid to the role of regulatory authorities, such as the Central Bank, in determining regulations and requirements for banking activities. The key approaches to the development and implementation of a credit strategy are analyzed, as well as its impact on the profitability and sustainability of the bank. The importance of digital technologies and automated systems in credit risk management is noted, which make it possible to increase the accuracy of borrowers' assessments, speed up decision-making processes and minimize transaction costs. The importance of a balance between profitability and risk is emphasized when forming an effective credit policy that allows adapting to changes in the economic environment and maintaining the bank's competitiveness. In conclusion, it is concluded that it is necessary to integrate modern technologies and traditional approaches to credit management in order to achieve long-term sustainability and growth of the banking business.
